A little over a month ago, the official social media handle of the Karnataka Bulldozers announced that the 12th season of the Celebrity Cricket League would begin earlier than expected. A November start was revealed, meaning that the new season would come only 9 months after the last. Three weeks later came news that the Kerala Strikers would be back in action, after missing out on Season 11. And now we have an update on a possible start date as well.

According to a source, Celebrity Cricket League Season 12 will kick off on November 15, with JioHotstar the likely streaming partner. Unlike Season 11, this time, the league will be back to having 8 teams, with the return of the Kerala Strikers. The team had pulled out of the tournament citing revenue issues.

The Kerala Strikers and the Bhojpuri Dabanggs are the only two teams to have never won the title. Given that the last two seasons have seen literal underdogs, Bengal Tigers and Punjab De Sher, win the championship, Unni Mukundan’s and Manoj Tiwari’s teams could be serious contenders. The Telugu Warriors have won the most titles (4), but it is the Bulldozers, with only 2 wins, who have played the most finals (6). The other two teams in the tournament are the Chennai Rhinos and the Mumbai Heroes.

Interestingly, Season 12 is when the squads open their doors to fan participation. Every team is set to get 2 non-film related fan contestants, with the major criteria for participation being that they could not have played professional cricket at even district level.
