In October 2021, on the day of the release of his film Bhajarangi 2, Century Star Shivarajkumar tragically lost his younger brother, Power Star Puneeth Rajkumar. As much as Shivanna, as the actor is popularly known, misses his brother, rather than dwelling on the fact that he is no more, the Hattrick Hero prefers to think that Puneeth is still very much around him.
So, when Shivanna was recently asked his thoughts on the possibility of a biopic on the life and times of Puneeth, who began his acting career as a child and even won a National Award for Best child Actor for his performance in Bettada Hoovu , he had this to say. Shivanna said, “I don’t believe in biopics. Someone once asked me about doing a biopic on my father (late matinee idol Dr Rajkumar); we should not do. They are living legends; for me, they are always living. Puneeth and Rajkumar are always living for me. I don’t feel that they are not here at all.
The Century Star further added that just thinking about Puneeth gets him emotional and teary-eyed. Shivanna does not want to get upset watching a biopic and adds that he himself was asked to star in one such biopic, which he is not game for. Having said that, the Kannada star added that he is, however, working on the biopic of another legendary person.
45, which is composer Arjun Janya’s directorial debut, is Shivarajkumar’s first major release since last year’s Bhairathi Ranagal. The actor has a cameo in his daughter Niveditha Shivarajkumar’s maiden feature film production, Firefly, which releases in theatres on April 24, the birth anniversary of Dr Rajkumar. 45 also stars Real Star Upendra, who has collaborated with Shivarajkumar both as director, with Om , and as actor, in Preethse and Kabzaa.
