Pratim D Gupta’s upcoming film Chaalchitro was supposed to be released during this Puja. According to the makers, there was some specific reason behind that. Anik Dutta’s film Joto Kando Kolkatatei was supposed to be this year’s Puja film. Abir Chatterjee plays the lead here. But his other film, Bohurupi, is also coming to this Puja. Reportedly, that was the reason that Anik Dutta’s film’s release became uncertain.

Friends Communication, which produces both of the films, hence decided that Pratim D Gupta’s film would be released instead of Anik Dutta’s film. But according to the Monday reports, that decision has changed again. Pratim’s film will be released on December 20.

On the same date, Windows film Amar Boss and Dev’s film Khadan will be released. Was no other date available? Pratim jokes, “This winter, there will be Puja again.” Shantanu Maheshwari, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Ziaul Faruq Apurba, and Indranil Basu play the lead in his film. This is Shantanu’s debut in Bengali films. His romantic acting opposite Alia Bhatt in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi was critically acclaimed. He teamed up with Pratim in the series Tooth Pari. How comfortable was Shantanu as a cop?

Pratim said, “It is difficult to understand how good an action hero Shantanu is if you don’t see the film. He did not use anybody double.- He played each of the scenes himself.” The director said that Shantanu would play a Marwari cop. Shantanu hails from Kolkata and speaks fluent Bengali. Will he remind us of IPS Anuj Sharma, who is also a handsome man? It is heard that Anuj is called the Amir Khan of Kolkata Police. Pratim laughed and said that no such thought played in his mind.

Shantanu was born and brought up in Kolkata’s Burrabazar. Now his family lives in Mumbai’s Malad. This is his first Bengali film in his own city. What did Shantanu do in the breaks? Pratim said, “He has a favorite restaurant in Russell Street. Its food and rolls were a must on his menu. Shantanu used to roam around the city.”
