Dinesh Vijan's Maddock Films recently announced the release dates of its 10 upcoming movies. The slate of films also included filmmaker Laxman Utekar's Chaava. After the success of Zara Hatke Zara Bachke, Utekar has reunited with Vicky Kaushal for his new movie. It will mark Vicky's first collaboration with Rashmika Mandanna. 

The buzz is that Kaushal will be seen playing the role of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. According to the latest report by ETimes, the makers of Chaava have approached Anil Kapoor to essay the role of Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb.

Anil Kapoor approached for Chaava?

As per the media report, Anil Kapoor is yet to sign the dotted line. "The team has already approached Anil Kapoor to play Aurangzeb, they are yet to sign the dotted lines. If things fall in place, Anil Kapoor will surely lock horns with Vicky Kaushal in the film," a source told the entertainment portal.

The report further mentions team Chaava has already begun the prep as they are likely to begin the shoot in the coming days. Rashmika will be reportedly seen playing the role of Yesubai.

About the film

As per media reports, Laxman Utekar's Chaava will be based on the life of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's son, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. However, the makers are yet to comment on the storyline. As for the film's release, it is slated to hit the silver screen on December 6, 2024.

What's next for Anil Kapoor?

Meanwhile, on the work front, Anil Kapoor will next be seen in Thank You For Coming. Helmed by Karan Boolani, the movie stars Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Kusha Kapila, Shibani Bedi, and Dolly Singh. Backed by Ektaa Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor, it is set to release on the big screen tomorrow (October 6).
