Kaathal - The Core
Release platform: Theatre
Helmed by The Great Indian Kitchen director Jeo Baby, this family relationship drama, much like the filmmaker’s much-celebrated previous film, is an important addition to his filmography. Starring Mammootty and Jyothika, the movie revolves around what happens when George’s wife Omana decides to file for divorce to end their 20-year-old marriage, just when he has decided to contest elections, and the impact the rumours of his sexuality have on society’s perception of him.

Chaaver
Release platform: Sony LIV
A gang of men is on the run after a political murder, but what happens when the ones they believe abandon them and they have to confront more violence from the rivalry they helped ignite? Kunchacko Boban, Arjun Ashokan, Manoj KU and Antony Varghese star in this Tinu Pappachan directorial, which is a political action-drama written by Joy Mathew. The film explores how the foot soldiers in the larger political game often fall prey to their superior’s gain.
Pulimada
Release platform: Netflix
Joju George plays a 40-year-old police officer whose traumatic childhood after the death of his mother has a huge bearing on his personality and his current predicament of being lonely. After his fiancée elopes on their wedding day, he meets a mysterious woman (Aishwarya Rajessh). What happens next forms the plot of this thriller, helmed by AK Sajan.
Adrishya Jalakangal
Release platform: Theatre
Much like Dr Biju’s previous films, the protagonist in Adrishya Jalakangal (Tovino Thomas) has no name. Set in a world plagued by war, he is released from a lunatic asylum to make room for others. As he takes up his new profession, he begins to experience mysterious incidents that stem from his stay at the asylum. Nimisha Sajayan and Indrans also star in this surrealistic drama.
