What Is Chadar - The Ice Trail About

Set in the land of the Himalayas in a small valley called Zanskar, it shows how the place is cut off from the world throughout the winters. It shows their struggle to make ends meet and how they have been doing this for years now. The official synopsis for the same reads, “High in the Indian Himalayas is the small, little-known realm of Zanskar. Hemmed in by 7000-meter high mountains, the valley is cut off from the rest of the world throughout the winter. The 120-km long, icy trail along the Chadar river is their only way out.”

“Every year, the Zanskari men, women, and children undertake this perilous journey, enduring bitter cold, fatigue, and thirst. Watch them as they take heavy planks of timber through the winding gorges of the Chadar on their journey home.”

Directed by Anne and Eric Lapied, the documentary has made a loud buzz across the world and has multiple awards in its kitty. It is now streaming on DocuBay, and you can watch it with your OTTplay Premium subscription.
