Chadwick Boseman honoured with moving tribute from wife, stars at Stand Up to Cancer charity event

The Stand Up to Cancer telethon, a televised fundraiser for raising money for cancer research, witnessed some heart touching moments on Saturday, with Chadwick Boseman’s wife honouring the late actor’s memory with an emotional song tribute. The event, which took place in Los Angeles, was streamed on Youtube.

During the show, Simone Boseman took to the stage to honour her late husband with a tear-jerking performance of the song, ‘I’ll be Seeing You’, the classic 1938 song which is about coping with a tragic loss and finding ways to move on.

Black-ish star Anthony Anderson also paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman, calling the Black Panther actor’s unexpected passing at 43 ‘devastating’ after his battle with colon cancer was kept under wraps. Calling Boseman an ‘incredible artist’ and ‘true hero’, Anderson also reminded audiences that the late star was also a person like everyone else, a son, a brother, uncle, cousin, friend, colleague and husband. He also said of how most people are familiar with the ‘fracture’ a loved one’s passing can leave in life.

Academy Award winner Matthew McConaughey also featured on the telecast, sharing a personal story of how he himself had lost a close friend and mentor to cancer, which he referred to as a ‘damned disease’.

In addition to Anderson, the event also saw the appearance of several known Hollywood actors including Chris Evans, Paul Rudd, Sofia Vergara and Ken Jeong and his wife. Jeong’s wife also shared with audiences the story of her own breast cancer diagnosis.
