Popularly known as ‘Slow Cheeta’, rapper-actor Chaitanya Sharma has recently appeared in the teleplay - titled Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti. Keeping the theme of the play in mind, Chaitnya - who is married to actress Shweta Tripathi - shares his views on the institution of marriage.

“There is this stereotypical notion about marriage that it captivates people for life. I think, only if you take the institution seriously, should you consider it. And once married, you should learn to enjoy your married life and speak about it with responsibility and respect,” the actor said.

According to Chaitanya, the institution of marriage is beautiful but only for a few people with a certain belief system. “I think it’s a beautiful institution, for those who believe in long-term commitment,” he explained.

Yeh Shaadi Nahi Ho Sakti is directed by Akarsh Khurana. Among the other actors of the teleplay are Prajukta Koli, Shikha Sharma and Adhaar Khurana. Chaitanya plays the character of ‘Lucky, with a swag’ that gives the over-the-top 90s vibe. The actor describes his character as a “great guy with loud clothes”, who is on a trip of his own. “He is hoping to marry his dream girl and plotting to find a way to resolve a complicated situation,” he added.

This isn’t the first time Chaitanya has collaborated with Akarsh, as they have worked in plays and films together in the past. Sharing his experience of working with Akarsh, Chaitanya said, “We call him ‘Daata’, because he’s literally the god that came into all of our lives and just gave us so many great opportunities. His sets overflow with laughter, incredible food and care. Working with him always feels like coming home.”

Earlier, he has also acted in films like Gully Boy, Brahmāstra: Part One – Shiva and Karwaan, among others. The teleplay, a production of Zee Theatre, is available to stream on Airtel Theatre, Dish TV and D2H Rangmanch.
