Chak De! India writer Jaideep Sahni roped in to create YRF's second OTT outing

Jaideep Sahni has been named the exclusive creator for Yash Raj Films' OTT initiative. The filmmaker, who has worked creatively with Aditya Chopra before, will now be a creator for YRF Entertainment, YRF's digital arm. He is known for penning the screenplays for Company (2002), Bunty Aur Babli (2005), Khosla Ka Ghosla (2006), Chak De! India (2007), and Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year (2009).

A trade source revealed at mid-day that Chopra wants to create shows for worldwide audiences. The YRF head honcho enlisted Sahni, whose screenplays have consistently wowed audiences, with the hopes of creating genre-defining content.

The Railway Men, a drama about the unsung heroes of the Bhopal gas calamity that devastated the nation in 1984, is the production house's first OTT project. Shiv Rawail is directing the series, featuring R. Madhavan, Kay Kay Menon, Divyenndu Sharma, and Babil Khan. 

While Sahni is composing the narrative for the production house's second release. According to Variety, Sahni's YRF Entertainment series will be "a heady relationship drama about love, ambition, and profession."

With his debut movie for YRF Entertainment, which is planned to be released early next year, Jaideep will create a genre of his own in the Hindi content sector. In February of this year, Aditya and the YRF team will begin the casting for the series.

Chopra has hired Sahni to work as an exclusive creator for YRF Entertainment. Jaideep's scripts have always wowed audiences, and this development indicates that we may expect some of YRF's best digital space in the near future.

Meanwhile, The Railway Men will premiere on December 2, 2022, as a tribute to humanity and massive sacrifice in the aftermath of a national tragedy.

YRF Entertainment is in charge of Yash Raj Films' streaming operation, which was launched in 2021 with a $67.1 million investment.
