Chakravyuham The Trap on OTT: Ajay’s investigative thriller is a digital blockbuster

Ajay, who’s played a wide variety of roles as a lead actor, character artiste and antagonist over the years, recently headlined a film titled Chakravyuham The Trap. The film is an investigative thriller revolving around an uncompromising cop. Gnaneswari Kandregula was the female lead of the thriller written and directed by Chetkuri Madhusudhan.

The film, produced by Chetkuri Savitri under Sahasra Creations, only managed a modest run at the box office during its theatrical release this June. Amazon Prime Video acquired its post-theatrical streaming rights and began premiering Chakravyuham earlier this July. Ever since it OTT premiere, the film is garnering record views from streaming enthusiasts.

The story begins with the death of a woman Siri (Urvashi Paradesi), who is murdered in her house. When Satya (Ajay) begins investigating the case, he believes Siri’s husband Sanjay Rao is the culprit. He also suspects Sanjay’s business partner Sharath and all hell breaks loose when Rs 1 crore cash and gold is stolen from Siri’s house. Will Satya find the relevant answers?

The fact that it’s also premiering in four languages - Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Tamil - has maximised its reach. Currently in the 8th position among the most watched titles in Amazon Prime Video, the film has consistently found a place in the top 10 list after it was out on the streamer. The film, with its arresting treatment, leaves you guessing till the very end.

Chakravyuham boasts solid performances from Ajay and his co-actors. The supporting cast comprises Vivek Trivedi, Urvashi Pardeshi, Pragya Nayan, Subhalekha Sudhakar, Rajeev Kanakala, Suresh, Priya, Srikanth Iyyangar, Kireeti, Raj Tirandasu and others. It’s a welcome sign that its theatrical performance hasn’t affected its OTT prospects. Jesvin Prabu edited the film which had cinematography by GV Ajay Kumar. Bharath Machiraju scored the music.
