Netflix India has announced a special reunion episode featuring the cast and crew of Lagaan as the Oscar-nominated film completes 20 years since its release. Aamir Khan, Ashutosh Gowariker and the cast of the film are expected to be a part of the episode which will premiere on Netflix India’s YouTube channel.
The OTT giant shared the announcement with a video from the original film. The video showcases the scene in which a mute Bagha (Amin Hajee) can be seen beating the drums and calling the whole village to inform them about the upcoming rain. Using this scene from the film, Netflix announced Chale Chalo Lagaan: Once Upon An Impossible Dream.
In the scene, Ismail (Raj Zutshi), Arjan (Akhilendra Mishra), Bhuvan (Aamir), Goli (Daya Shankar Panday) and Yashodamai (Suhasini Mulay) were seen talking to Bagha. Bhura (Raghubir Yadav), Guranmamare (Rajesh Vivek) and Lakha (Yashpal Sharma) were also seen in the clip.

Talking about the collaboration, Aamir shared, “We broke our backs while making Lagaan, but our hearts were full of joy. Lagaan has showered us all with so much love. I am so grateful to all my fellow travellers on this magical journey.”
He added, “Lagaan is something I am extremely grateful for and I will always cherish every memory of this ongoing journey. It is also so wonderful to see that the journey of Lagaan continues, and I am really looking forward to reconnecting with the Lagaan gang thanks to this initiative by Netflix. Re Bhaiyya chhuttey Lagaan!!”
Meanwhile Ashutosh Gowariker shared, “My ultimate dream was to create something that will linger in the audience’s mind. That it would be appreciated 20 years down the line is something that is unimaginable. It is overwhelming for me as well as the entire team of the film that this dream became a reality. Lagaan is the story of people coming together and standing united against all odds.”
Netflix India has not yet announced any release date for the special celebration.
