Challenging Star Darshan: ‘Film with Prem will happen, but…’

Kannada superstar Darshan Thoogudeepa, who is currently out on bail in a murder case, and has resumed work on his ongoing project, Devil, took to social media on February 8, to clear the air on certain rumours doing the rounds about his upcoming films, as well as plans for his birthday on February 16.

Darshan, who had first obtained bail on medical grounds, will not be meeting-and-greeting his fans, whom he calls his celebrities, solely because his current health condition does not permit it. In a video message, Darshan explained that as much as he would want to meet everyone and thank them for their unconditional support, standing for hours together to shake hands with all is not possible for him at the moment. "I don't like standing on top of a building and just waving at everyone. I would want to meet everyone individually; it will happen soon," he said.

The actor explained that he’s been managing to work with injections to numb the back pain he’s been suffering from for a while, which have only been providing temporary relief. Surgery, which was recommended, is on the cards, and he assured he will get it done shortly.

As for the rumours surrounding his upcoming projects and that he has been returning advanced paid to him by several producers, Darshan clarified that he did it only with one filmmaker, Soorappa Babu, taking into account that the producer’s financial burden would only increase if he were to wait around till the actor is free to work on their collaboration. He assures that he will work with Soorappa Babu at a later stage.

The Challenging Star also reiterated that his project with director Prem is still very much on, but as has been speculated, KVN Productions will not back the same. Darshan says that given that the banner is busy with a few big-budget ongoing projects, he understands that mounting another one may cause logistical issues. He’d rather work with a producer who does not have any other project going on at the moment and can focus solely on their collaboration.
