Champion box office Day 4: Roshan Meka's film makes Rs 8 crore, makers looking at massive losses

Champion is Roshan Meka’s new film that hit the screens on December 25, 2025, as a Christmas special. Though the film received passable reviews, the collections are not that great. 

Champion slows down at the box office

As per the latest update, Champion has made Rs 8 crore net worldwide to date, as per the tracking portal Sacnilk. This is not a good number considering the fact that Champion was made on a massive budget of Rs 43 crore.

Looking at the way the film is faring on a key Monday, the makers are looking at massive losses of close to Rs 20 crore. Right from the day the film went on floors, there was talk in industry circles that the makers of Mahanti, Sita Ramam, and Kalki 2898 AD spent way too much on a period drama, that too featuring a newcomer as the main lead.

When it comes to Roshan Meka, he has impressed many with his solid performance and has already signed three big films in his career. Champion is a period drama directed by Pradeep Advaitam. 

Anaswara Rajan plays the female lead in this film, and she has been received with open arms in the Telugu industry. Champion was in the making for three long years, and during this period, the main lead, Roshan, did not sign any films and waited for Champion to be released. 

Well, his wait has finally ended with a flop film. One of the major aspects that went against the film is the main lead. Though Roshan did well in his role, many felt that he was way too young to play the lead role in a period drama.

The makers did not leave any stone unturned and spent big money, and now the wait is on the OTT release of the film.
