The cast and crew of the upcoming horror-comedy Chandramukhi 2 finished a long shooting schedule on Thursday. The team commemorate the end of a successful schedule with a group photo. The picture features comedy icon Vadivelu, the film's lead Raghava Lawrence, director P Vasu and other members of the supporting cast.

"That's a schedule wrap on the sets of #CM2 The star studded 3rd schedule came to an end today with the cast & crew joining for a group pic!," tweeted Lyca Productions along with the group photo.

Kangana Ranaut, who is playing the female lead in the film, however, was missing from the group picture. It seems she wasn't part of today's schedule.

Kangana made her debut in Tamil in 2008 action movie Dhaam Dhoom. After her career took off in Bollywood, didn't return to Tamil cinema for over a decade. She made a comeback to Tamil with the 2021 political drama Thalaivii. In the biopic drama, she essayed the role of late former Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa. Even though her performance made an impression on the audience, the film didn't work at the box office.

Surprisingly, she was later roped in to play the female lead in Chandramukhi 2, which is a follow-up film to the 2005 blockbuster. The earlier film, however, had Superstar Rajinikanth in the lead. The upcoming film will feature Lawrence essaying the leading man. It's worth noting that Vadivelu was also part of the first film.

Vasu, who directed Chandramukhi, is also helming the sequel. It's unclear whether the follow-up film is the remake of the director's 2010 supernatural drama Aptharakshaka. The film starring late movie icon Vishnuvardhan was the sequel to Apthamitra, which inspired the Tamil remake Chandramukhi.

Chandramukhi 2 is expected to open in cinemas this year.
