The festive season in the Telugu states not only brings people together in a family but also gives them an additional reason to celebrate their happiness through movie viewing. While Sankranthi, Dasara are the major festivals that witness a flurry of big releases here, this time, there’s enough entertainment in store for Vinayaka Chavithi as well.

Raghava Lawrence, who was last seen in the action entertainer Rudhrudu this year, is returning with another hugely anticipated film this Vinayaka Chavithi. His next release is Chandramukhi 2, the horror-comedy that’s a sequel to the popular Rajinikanth, Jyothika, Nayanthara starrer Chandramukhi, that made a killing at the box office a decade and a half ago.

Interestingly, Chandramukhi 2 is also directed by P Vasu, who helmed the prequel too. This is the 65th film in the director’s career. Noted Hindi actress Kangana Ranaut plays the female lead in the film bankrolled by Subhaskaran under Lyca Productions, the makers of Mani Ratnam’s PS 2 and Kamal Haasan’s Indian 2. The film will release in five languages - Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada.

Chandramukhi 2’s star studded lineup comprises Vadivelu, Laxmi Menon, Mahima Nambiar, Radhika Sarath Kumar, Vignesh, Ravimariya, Shrishti Dange, Subhiksha, YG Mahendran, Rao Ramesh, Sai Aiyyappan, Suresh Menon, Shatru and TM Karthik. MM Keeravaani is composing the music for the entertainer for which RD Rajasekhar is the cinematographer and Thota Tharani is the production designer. Anthony is the editor of the project.

In the Telugu states, Chandramukhi 2 will lock horns with two biggies - Tillu Square, the sequel to Siddu Jonnalagadda’s DJ Tillu and Boyapati Sreenu’s pan-Indian film with Ram Pothineni. All the three films belong to different genres and are expected to have their own audience base. It’s certainly a win-win situation for the makers and the viewers.
