Chandramukhi 2 on OTT: Release rights of Kangana Ranaut's film sold at a whopping price

Kangana Ranaut, Raghava Lawrence, and Lakshmi Menon's horror-comedy Chandramukhi 2 has been making waves at the box office. Despite facing a tough clash with several new releases, including The Vaccine War and Fukrey 3, the film managed to make over Rs 28 crore at the Indian box office. Directed by P Vasu, it is the sequel to the 2005 hit Rajinikanth and Jyotika-starrer Chandramukhi.

As Chandramukhi 2 continues to win over audiences in theatres across the country, the OTT rights to the film have reportedly been sold to a leading digital streaming platform for a whopping amount.

Starring Kangana Ranaut in the lead role as Chandramukhi, the film stars Raghava Lawrence in the dual roles of Pandiyan and Vettaiyan. Others in the star cast include Lakshmi Menon, Raadhika Sarathkumar, Mahima Nambiar, Srushti Dange, Rao Ramesh, and Subiksha Krishnan. The film has been released in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Malayalam, and Kannada.

Chandramukhi 2 OTT rights sold to a leading platform

Chandramukhi 2 was released in theatres on September 28 and has received positive reviews from audiences and critics. The OTT rights to Chandramukhi 2 have reportedly been bought by digital streaming giant Netflix for a whopping sum of Rs 8 crore. However, the OTT release date for the film is yet to be announced.

Teaser of Kangana Ranaut's Tejas is out

Meanwhile, Kangana Ranaut will be seen next in the drama thriller Tejas. The makers of the film released a special teaser on Monday, giving fans a glimpse into the Kangana's Indian Air Force avatar. 

Inspired by the landmark ruling in 2016, after which the Indian Air Force became the country's first defence force to induct women into combat roles, Tejas follows the courageous journey of an Indian Air Force pilot. The trailer for the film is slated to be released on October 8, which is Indian Air Force Day. Tejas is expected to be released in theatres on October 27.
