Actress Chandreyee Ghosh has no time to respite. Besides her two ongoing serials, Gouri Elo and Faguner Mohona, the actress is also busy in Ram Kamal Mukherjee’s magnum opus, Binodini – Ekti Natir Upakhyan. The film also features Rukmini Maitra as the titular character. It captures the life and career of Binodini Dasi – a noted stage actress in 19th century Bengal – who was mentored by Girish Ghosh.

In the film, the name of Chandreyee’s character is Gangabai. Talking about her role, the actress said, “It is an interesting and significant character. Ramkamal has thoroughly researched the subject. Gangabai is not a long character but is very significant in Binodini’s childhood. I am feeling great working in this beautiful period drama.”

Binodini is also a film in which Chandreyee worked with Rukmini for two days. Talking about her fellow actress, she said, “Not only Rukmini is a gem of a person, but she is also a curious actress. She constantly asks how to better her performance, and she improvises and discusses. I found that very interesting. It comes purely from genuineness.”

Meanwhile, Rukmini dressed as Binodini Dasi in Ram Kamal’s film went viral on social media as soon as it was dropped. While a lot of people praised her look, actress Sreelekha Mitra argued that Binodini Dasi was not a character of size zero like it is depicted in the poster of the film. In a controversial statement, she challenged the ‘size zero fixation’. Sreelekha also said that she wished Rukmini luck at the end of her post, but no one noticed that, they only noticed the criticism.
