In the second schedule of the much-anticipated sports drama Chandu Champion, the crew undertook a daring endeavour: filming an incredible eight-minute-long single-shot war sequence at a magnificent altitude of 9000 feet above sea level. Kartik Aaryan, who plays the leading role in the Kabir Khan film, will be seen donning the army uniform in the film.

Single-take action sequence set

As per reports, one of the most impressive aspects of this project was the production of a single-take action sequence depicting a massive battle in 1965. To pull off this incredible achievement, the crew constructed a massive army camp set in the beautiful Aru Valley in Jammu and Kashmir, which is perched at an altitude of about 10,000 feet above sea level.

The report suggested that for five days, Kartik Aaryan, Vijay Raaz, and Bhuvan Arora rehearsed tirelessly to perfect their performances in this epic battle scene. On the sixth day, the crew nailed the scenario, perfectly depicting the tense atmosphere of the fight.

Inspiration behind the drama:

The true story of a determined athlete, according to the film's producers, served as inspiration. According to rumours, Murlikant Petkar, a freestyle swimmer and India's first Paralympic gold medalist, served as its inspiration.

The second shoot schedule for the film took place in Kashmir after London. Sharing the details about the same, a source told Pinkvilla, "The second schedule of Chandu Champion begins next week in Kashmir. The location scouting has been completed, and Kabir and his team will soon fly to Kashmir to begin shooting on September 24."

The source added, "Kartik will shoot some heavy action sequences in this schedule, which will go on till the first week of October. The makers plan to shoot a significant portion of the film, which is based on the life of the inspirational figure, paralympic champion Murlikant Petkar. It’s a tough schedule planned to be shot at various breathtaking locations across Kashmir, including Pahalgam."

A June 2024 release:

This film will be the first collaboration between Kartik and Kabir and the second between them and director Sajid Nadiadwala. The team brings the inspiring true story of a sports hero. On June 14, 2024, Sajid Nadiadwala and Kabir Khan will release Chandu Champion.
