Thankamani starring Dileep, also marks director Ratheesh Raghunandan’s second directorial venture after Udal.

Second look poster from Dileep’s upcoming anticipated film, Thankamani, has been unveiled. The makers of the film took to their social media handles to share his character poster on the occasion of the actor’s birthday, October 27. Earlier, the movie’s first look motion poster starring the actor in an aged look, was released on the social media page. Helmed by Ratheesh Raghunandan, and bankrolled by Super Good Films and Ifar Media, the movie will also feature Neeta Pillai and Pranitha Subhash as female leads.
The plot and theme behind Thankamani
The movie is based on the events that unfolded on October 21, 1986 following a bus service dispute,which later resulted in a police baton charge and gunfire in Thangamani, a village in the Kamakshi gram panchayat of Idukki district. The film is based on these incidents that shook Kerala in the 1980s.
Interestingly, Etha Samayamayi, a 1987 movie directed by P G Viswambharan, also was based on the same incident. Actors Ratheesh, Shari, Janardhanan, Prathapa Chandran, M G Soman and Kundara Johny were the main actors in that film, which was bankrolled by Achankunju under the banner of Royal Films.
Thankamani’s cast and crew
The Dileep starrer is produced by RB Chaudhary’s Super Good Films and Rafi Mathira’s Ifar Media. The female leads are set to be Neeta Pillai and Pranitha Subhas, while the other cast members include Ajmal Ameer, Siddique, Manoj K Jayan, Kottayam Ramesh, Major Ravi, Santosh Keezhatoor, Thomman Manguva, Ramya Panicker, Mukta, Sivakami. The film will also see Kollywood actors John Vijay and Sampath Ram in crucial roles. The film’s stunt scenes are choreographed by acclaimed fight masters Stunt Siva, Supreme Sundar, Rajashekhar and Mafia Shashi.
Dileep’s upcoming releases
The actor’s much-awaited film, Bandra, is scheduled to be released on November 10. Helmed by Arun Gopy, the film also stars Tamannaah Bhatia, Dino Morea and Lena.
