After a long wait, director Sidharth Bharathan’s erotic thriller Chathuram will begin streaming online on March 9. The movie’s OTT rights, which were sold after its theatrical release last year, were snapped up by Saina Play.
Chathuram, which has Swasika Vijay, Roshan Mathew and Alencier Ley Lopez in the lead roles, is an erotic thriller that was shot during the lockdown. The film was shot after Sidharth couldn’t release his Soubin Shahir-starrer Djinn, due to the pandemic restrictions and theatre shutdown, and the filmmaker decided to do another project in the interim.

In an earlier interview with OTTplay, Sidharth said that he was unhappy that majority of the audience had reached out, asking when the film would drop on a streaming platform. “I do get sad that they are waiting for the OTT release. We had a five-week run in theatres, which is no mean feat. We never expected that. The feedback was good,” he said.
The movie revolves around a woman named Selena, who gets married to an abusive husband, Eldho, and has to endure him till he meets with an accident. After Eldho is bed-ridden, she seeks the help of a home nurse to take care of her husband. But with time, she also gets into a relationship with the latter, much to the chagrin of Eldho. How Selena convinces the home nurse, essayed by Roshan Mathew, to help her get rid of her husband and how the act has a huge ramification in both their lives form the plot of Chathuram.
The film, scripted by Sidharth and Vinoy Thomas, also has Santhy Balachandran, who was last seen in Disney+ Hotstar’s Gulmohar, Leona Lishoy, Jaffer Idukki, Gilu Joseph and Nishanth Sagar in pivotal roles. Chathuram is set to drop on Saina Play on March 9 at 10 pm. The release date and time were revealed by the film's cast and crew.
