Moon Moon Sen is known to be a gifted planner. From curating menus to hosting a party – she does it all. It was her husband Bharat Dev Varma’s birthday, and the veteran actress hosted an elaborate dinner at Kolkata’s iconic heritage restaurant, Trincas. The party started around 7 pm. Along with live music, freshly baked cake and food. The Sen-family had a good time. A Hindi band played soulful music between 6 and 8.30 pm). 

“I love this place. It is one of the places that has been my mother’s (Suchitra Sen) favourite too. We often come here for a leisurely meal, and for this party, we had a lot of fun planning, especially now that there are so many new things to try out here from the newly-launched menu,” said Moon Moon Sen, fondly recalling the times she would visit Ming Room at Trincas with her mother, and then with her husband and family. 

Moon Moon Sen’s husband, Bharat Dev Varma, is from the royal family of Tripura. He is known as a food connoisseur for his fine taste. The actress wanted to give him a surprise that would also include delectable food. On the menu were crackling spinach, crispy veg wontons, crispy chilli baby corn, three mushrooms and baby corn Hunan style.

Anand Puri, the owner, was happy to be a part of this sweet surprise. “We had a lot of fun planning this menu. From our seafood menu came the lobster Thermidor and crab and cheese wontons. They also wanted the ginger sesame, lotus stem.”
