Chehre actor Rhea Chakraborty charged with abetting Sushant Singh Rajput's drug addiction

Sushant Singh Rajput was a young actor that had captured the hearts of thousands of Indian moviegoers with his likeable characters in his movies as well as a great personality in real life. The actor’s death came as a shock in 2020, which also led to a number of probes being carried out by a number of central agencies. The actor’s then girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty was also at the forefront of a lot of these probes and controversies at the time. The latest report about the case is that Rhea, who was last seen in Chehre, has been charged with abetting Sushant’s drug habit. 

Rhea has been charged for procuring contraband for the later actor, abetting his drug addiction. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), who had been investigating the drug case following the actor’s death, charged Rhea and 34 others in the case. 

Rhea has been charged with receiving, delivering and funding small quantities of Marijuana to Sushant. Her brother, Showik Chakraborty has also been charged in the high-profile case. Reports also suggest that if convicted, Rhea could face a 10 year jail time. 

Rhea, who was a former VJ, has also appeared in a handful of movies. She was last seen in Chehre, starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles. Directed by Rumy Jafery, the movie received good reviews from the critics. Chehre is now available to stream on Amazon Prime Video. 

Sushant Singh Rajput, who made his acting debut as a television star, made his Bollywood entry with the sports drama Kai Po Che! In 2013, went on to star in 11 movies. The actor was last seen in Dil Bechara, which was a posthumous release. Also starring Sanjana Sanghi, the drama is available on Disney+ Hotstar.
