Jeet wanted to capture the Eid crowd with his latest, Chengiz. With Salman Khan’s Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan in theatres, it was not an easy task. In an interview, Jeet himself admitted that it was a difficult journey and said that a comparison with Salman’s film is like ‘comparing Saudi Arabia with Argentina.” Yet, he was confident.
Chengiz was released all over India and there was a kind of excitement among Jeet’s fans with this pan-India release. Finally, it was important to have a good box office collection. It was not the first time a Hindi dub of a Bengali film was released. However, this time, it got released simultaneously. Meanwhile, Jeet and Susmita Chatterjee promoted the film outside Bengal and built a positive buzz. However, that did not reflect in the box office.
There has not been any official confirmation or figure. However, according to sources, it did not impress the box office outside Bengal. On the first day, Chengiz did a collection of Rs 10 lakh outside Bengal and altogether reached between Rs 35 lakh to Rs 40 lakh. While it is not really a bad figure but surely a little less than what has been expected.
Meanwhile, KKBKKJ collected approximately Rs 14 cr all over India. While it seems like a formidable figure, it is unimpressive compared to Salman’s other films. Some of his films that are released after the pandemic managed to earn double the amount. Hence, like Jeet, Salman’s magic also fell flat on the first day at the box office.
