The 44th Chess Olympiad is all set to begin this evening in Chennai and Tamil Nadu is going out its way to mark the occasion. Amid the Chezz frenzy, Superstar Rajinikanth today shared a throwback picture of him playing chess and he called it an indoor game that he loved the most. He also wished all the players his very best. He wrote on his social media handle, "#ChessOlympiad2022 An indoor game I love the most … wishing all the chess minds the very best .. god bless. The actor is seen seriously thinking about his next move in the picture. 

To promote the event, Rajinikanth had earlier launched the Chess Olympiad teaser on his social media handles. The teaser, directed by Vignesh Shivan features the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin in it and composer AR Rahman, Virumana actress Aditi Shankar (daughter of director Shankar) among others. Music for the video is by AR Rahman. Sharing the link to the promotional teaser, Kaathuvaakula Rendu Kadhal director Vignesh Shivan had written on his social media page that he was thankful to the universe for this unimaginable opportunity. "“Had the privilege of directing this video with the honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Thiru. M. K. Stalin, our very own Oscar Nayagan A. R. Rahman. Blessed, overwhelmed and thanking the universe for this unimaginable opportunity for life.”

Aditi Shankar, in turn, had thanked director Vignesh Shivan for the opportunity. She wrote on her social media handle, “Vignesh Shivan sir!! Thank you so much! Was a pleasure working with you. Privileged to be a part of this along with Tamil Nadu CM sir and A. R. Rahman sir. Also had the lovely chance to work with cinematographer Rathnavelu sir and Brindha Gopal master.”

On the film front, Rajinikanth is preparing to begin the shoot for his next titled Jailer. The film will be helmed by Beast director Nelson Dilipkumar. The test look was recently completed for the film and shoot is all set to begin soon.
