While Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava has had a smooth and successful run in its first nine days, the film now enters its second Sunday and marks its tenth day on the big screen. The world is celebrating Vicky Kaushal’s triumphant return to cinemas, as he is set to deliver the highest-grossing film of his career with Laxman Utekar’s directorial. However, as the 10th day progresses, early trends suggest that the film’s bookings remain in the same range as Saturday, with no major spike. For the unversed, India is currently glued to the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan match at the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. Could this affect the film’s box office performance?
Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Pictures, Chhaava is based on the life of the second Chhatrapati of the Maratha Empire, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who ruled from 1681 to 1689. The film, mounted on a massive scale, stars Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, Divya Dutta as Sambhaji Maharaj’s stepmother Soyarabai, and Akshaye Khanna as Mughal emperor Aurangzeb. The movie hit Indian screens on February 14, 2025.
Early trends indicate that Chhaava is witnessing sim ilar footfalls to those on Day 9. However, afternoon bookings have dipped slightly as audiences tune in to watch the India vs. Pakistan match in Dubai, which started at 2:30 PM. Despite this temporary dip, evening numbers could bounce back depending on the match’s outcome. Current estimates suggest the film will still manage to secure a solid ₹40 crore Sunday. This means Chhaava is not only set to comfortably cross the ₹300 crore mark but is also on its way to the ₹400 crore milestone in a big way.
As per Sacnilk, on its ninth day (which happened to be the film’s second Saturday), Chhaava earned ₹44 crore at the domestic box office. This takes the film’s total collection to a staggering ₹286.75 crore—an incredible feat. Another major milestone in sight is Vicky Kaushal’s first-ever ₹300 crore film, solidifying his bankability as a leading star.
Chhaava had an impressive start, earning ₹31 crore on its opening day (February 14), followed by ₹37 crore on Saturday and ₹48.5 crore on Sunday. The film saw a drop on Monday, earning ₹24 crore, and maintained a similar range through the weekdays. It collected ₹25.25 crore on Tuesday, ₹32 crore on Wednesday (which coincided with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti), ₹21.5 crore on Thursday, and ₹23 crore on Friday. With its second Sunday now underway, it will be exciting to see what new heights the film reaches as it continues its record-breaking journey.
