After playing a patriarch in Hungama 2, Ashutosh Rana will next be seen in the period drama titled Chhatrasal. In the MX Player series, the actor is playing the role of Aurangzeb, while Jitin Gulati plays the titular role of Maharaja Chhatrasal. Ashutosh is popular for his villainous roles in multiple films and people dread to watch the talented actor onscreen. Now, during a recent interaction, he spoke at length about playing the antagonist once again.
About the show, Ashutosh told Mid Day, "I’ve always believed that a great story must have a courageous hero but his victory is celebrated even more so if he’s facing a larger than life opponent. Chhatrasal’s magnanimous victory is still cherished because of the rival he faced and the uphill battle he undertook to fight for Bundelkhand’s independence."
Rana further added that he always found period dramas and biopics fascinating. Calling them as one of his favourite genres to watch, the actor shared that playing Alamgir Aurangzeb in Chhatrasal was a great process.
Directed by Anadi Chaturvedi, Chhatrasal also features Vaibhavi Shandilya, Manish Wadhwa, Anushka Luhar and Rudra Soni in supporting roles.
The series is set to stream on MX Player from July 29, 2021.
Meanwhile, in Priyadarshan directorial Hungama 2, Ashutosh played the role of Colonel Gobind Kapoor aka Junglee Bail. He featured as Meezaan's onscreen father in the film which also features Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and Pranitha Subhash in the lead roles.
Hungama 2 is currently streaming on Disney+ Hotstar.
