Chhatriwali OTT release date: When and where to watch Rakul Preet Singh’s social comedy on online

Rakul Preet Singh is looking to kick off the new year with a bang, with the release of her first film featuring her as a solo lead. Rakul will star in Chhatriwali, a social comedy that seeks to destigmatize taboos surrounding the use of condoms and sex education. The film is all set for its direct to OTT release this week.

What is Chhatriwali about?

Chhatriwali follows the tale of Sanya Dhingra, a brilliant chemistry genius who is in search of employment. When she realises just how poorly the people around her understand the concepts related to sex education, she decides to use her knowledge to educate them to the best of her abilities, even going against educational authorities. In her crusade, she seeks to educate even schoolchildren about the importance of proper sex education as well.

Who are the cast and crew behind Chhatriwali?

Rakul stars as Sanya. In a statement, the actress had spoken about how important the film was for her, since it marks her first solo starring role. She also appreciated how the socially conscious theme of the film was approached in such a lighthearted manner as to pique the interest of audiences.

The film also features Sumeet Vyas,Satish Kaushik,Dolly Ahluwalia,Rajesh Tailang,Prachee Shah Paandya,Rakesh Bedi and Riva Arora in prominent roles.

The upcoming film is directed by Tejas Prabha Vijay Deoskar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala of RSVP Movies. The director said that he wanted to de-stigmatise the conversation around use of condoms through his film, a social family entertainer. Speaking about choosing Rakul for the lead role, he said that the actress is known to provide a breath of fresh air to every character she takes on.

Chhatriwali will be available for streaming on ZEE5 from January 20, 2023 onwards.
