The Nitesh Tiwari directorial will be released in theatres in China on January 7, 2022.

China has decided to open its doors to Indian films once again. Sushant Singh Rajput’s Chhichhore will be the first Indian film to be released in Chinese theatres after a gap of almost two years.
According to a report in Variety, China has started giving permission for several old films from countries other than the United States for release in Chinese theatres. Hollywood films such as Spider-Man: No Way Home and Venom: Let There Be Carnage are still awaiting approval from authorities for screening in the country.
Chhichhore will be the first Indian film to have a release in China since the border clashes between the two countries in 2020. The film tells the story of a man whose young son tries to commit suicide on failing to gain entrace into an IIT institute. The tragedy makes the father take a look back at his own life, where he himself was labelled a ‘loser’ during his college days.
In addition to Rajput, the film also features Shraddha Kapoor, Varun Sharma, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Naveen Polishetty, Tushar Pandey and Saharsh Kumar Shukla.
The 2019 film was directed by Nitesh Tiwari. The director’s film Dangal had also been screened in China, and had witnessed success at the box office there. Some other Indian films that have been screened in China include Secret Superstar, Andhadhun,Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Baahubali: The Beginning.
Chhichhore will be released in China on January 7, 2022.
