Pull down your curtains and switch off the lights to set your room dark before experiencing the upcoming horror for real. The trailer of the Nushrratt Bharuccha starrer Chhorii is out, giving just a small peek into the horror mania and it sure will send chills down your spine.
The trailer shares glimpses of the horror set in a rural village. Similar to several other horror movies, it talks about horrific urban legends, which you narrate to children to instil fear in them. The video shows Nushrratt Bharuccha getting acclimatised to the urban legend of ‘Sunaini’, a beautiful but evil witch who is after her and her unborn child. We get to see her character, Sakshi seeking shelter in a small isolated house that is surrounded by the shady sugarcane fields. There is also a bone-chilling lullaby that gets her spooked with three mysterious kids and a charred monster in red. Guess we have to uncover the fate of Sakshi and her unborn child when the movie comes out on November 26 on Amazon Prime Video.
Chhorii checks the boxes of all the elements of a complete horror film package. A modern couple getting stuck in an age-old village house, creepy residents who look like they carry more information than they let on, witches from urban legends waiting to prey on fresh meat and many more. It is also the official remake of the award-winning and critically acclaimed Marathi horror drama, Lapachhapi.
Speaking about the trailer, Nushrratt said in a statement, “While the narrative of the film is anchored in horror, it also carries a perspective that I hope the audiences will relate to. The trailer is just a sneak peek of a bigger horror that is set to unravel.” She said working on this horror drama has been a ‘daunting-yet-exciting experience’.
The director added that the film is a ‘uniquely Indian story waiting to be told to a global audience.’ He added, “Our aim is to take this scary story to a wide cross-section of the movie-watchers and allow fans of the genre to experience horror like never before.”
The film also stars Mita Vasisht, Saurabh Goyal, Rajesh Jais, Pallavi Ajay and Yaaneea Bharadwaj, among others in pivotal roles. The film is produced by Abundantia Entertainment, Crypt TV and T-Series.
