The makers also revealed that the director of the original film Majid Majidi had watched the remake and had sent a letter of appreciation to the Akka Kuruvi team. The Iranian filmmaker had stated in the letter that was touched by the film and added that the Tamil version has done justice to the original, which was made more than two decades ago.
The Irandian legend had also stated that the parallel love story and emotions portrayed in the film, have been neatly tweaked to suit the Indian audience.
