Singer-voice artiste-entrepreneur Chinmayi and her actor-filmmaker husband, Rahul Ravindran, welcomed twins Driptah and Sharvas, earlier this year. The new parents, who had just had their first child, were without a doubt, overjoyed. However, once they made an overnight statement about it, many people on social media, criticised them and asserted that they had adopted children through surrogacy.

Putting an end to all such rumours, Chinmayi shared her “only pregnant selfie”, on Instagram. She emphasised that she doesn't give a damn what people think and even gave an explanation for why she didn't publish her pregnancy-related photos.

Chinmayi mentioned that she was terrified and wanted to protect her privacy when she revealed that she miscarried before being pregnant with twins.

She said, “To express my remorse for not taking more pictures while I was pregnant, I posted a snapshot of myself at 32 weeks. However, I've already admitted on my YouTube channel that I was a little bit delusional in believing that I should have a successful pregnancy, particularly following my miscarriage. I believe I became afraid at 32 weeks, or possibly after that. I continued to appear at dubbing, recordings, and other events while requesting utmost respect for my privacy and asking people not to take any pictures. Around that time, I even gave a press conference, and even then, the media was polite.”

In response to the rumours that her children were born through surrogacy, Chinmayi stated, “In my opinion, it doesn't matter whether a person gave birth naturally or via a caesarean section. It doesn't matter at all. Whether it is a human mother or a pet parent, a mother is a mother. Therefore, I truly don't care whether people believe that I had my children through surrogacy; it is up to them to make their assumptions. It's not my problem if they think poorly of me.”

For those who are unaware, the singer revealed that she was expecting twins back in June.

Chart-topping songs like Oru Deivam Thandha Poove, Sahana, Vaarayo, Sara Sara, and others are among Chinmayi's multilingual playback work.

She was one of several women, who accused lyricist Vairamuthu of sexual harassment, and was eventually expelled from the South Indian Cine and Television Artistes and Dubbing Artistes Union without warning.

Chinmayi and Rahul tied the knot on May 5, 2014.
