About Chiraiya

The social drama Chiraiya raises the important question of consent after marriage. There is often a misconception of how there is no need for consent after tying the knot, and the series challenges the very concept. #ShaadiLicenseNahiHai is the tagline of the series which challenges the unsaid notion followed through eras within the Indian society.

Chiraiya narrates the tale through the story of a new bride Pooja (played by Prasanna Bisht) who turns up with marks which speak volumes of violence after marriage. It is the story about how women are silenced through a ‘system’ to maintain peace and public dignity. Directed by Shashant Shah, Chiraiya stars Divya Dutta, Sanjay Mishra, Siddharth Shaw, Prasanna Bisht, Faisal Rashid, Tinnu Anand, and Sarita Joshi.
