Dasara, the Nani, Keerthy Suresh starrer, which was widely promoted in the lead up to its release on March 30, lived up to the expectations of audiences and has won critical acclaim while also registering impressive figures at the box office. The action entertainer, also starring Dheekshith Shetty, Shine Tom Chacko, Purnaa, Samuthirakani and Sai Kumar, was directed by a debutant Srikanth Odela.
The film, which released in five languages, has earned in excess of Rs 100 crore worldwide, helped Nani enter the prestigious $ 2 million club at the US box office and looks set for more. This was the first-ever hit for producer Sudhakar Cherukuri, who backed films like Padi Padi Leche Manasu, Virata Parvam, Ramarao on Duty and Aadavallu Meeku Johaarlu in the past.
Chiranjeevi, who watched Dasara, tweeted in praise of the team today. “Dear Nani, Congratulations. Watched ‘Dasara’! What a brilliant film! You killed it with your makeover, performance. Amazed to know this is @0dela_Srikanth's first directorial. Appreciate his superb craftsmanship. Our ‘Mahanati’ @Keerthy_Official is just wow!! The young @DheekshithS also held his own. @Music_Santosh rocked! Kudos to the entire team of ‘DASARA’,” he wrote.
A naturally overjoyed Nani responded, “You will always be our Megastar sir. Not just onscreen but megastar for the mega heart you have in always being there for Cinema and for everyone who belong to it.” This isn’t the first time that Chiranjeevi has spoken in favour of Nani’s film. A year ago, he personally called Nani to his residence and appreciated his work in the reincarnation drama Shyam Singha Roy.
Nani’s next working on an untitled father-daughter drama alongside Mrunal Thakur, helmed by a debutant Shouryuv. He is believed to have okayed another script by Ante Sundaraniki director Vivek Athreya as well. The actor recently produced Adivi Sesh’s crime thriller Hit 2 and his sister Deepthi Ghanta’s web show Meet Cute for Sony LIV.
