Balagam, after extensive pre-release promotions and multiple previews over the week, is continuing its good run at the box office. Marking the directorial debut of comedian Venu Yeldandi, the film starring Priyadarshi, Kavya Kalyanram and others in lead roles was produced by Harshith and Hanshitha Reddy under Dil Raju Productions. The rural drama released in theatres on March 3.

Chiranjeevi is the latest celebrity to go gaga about the film and he was all praise for the team after watching Balagam in a special preview. He invited the entire team of the film, from producer Dil Raju, Harish to actors Priyadarshi, Kavya Kalyanram and director Venu Yeldandi to the sets of his upcoming film Bholaa Shankar. He honoured the team with a shawl, as shared by the makers in a video.

“How can you shock us like this? From the first frame to the ending, the Telangana nativity in the film is beautiful and it felt like a trip down the memory lane. I remember watching him perform oggu katha, burra katha on the show Jabardasth and my respect for him grew ever since. Despite having a big producer at the helm, Venu has managed to stand out,” Chiranjeevi said in the video.

Sudhakar Reddy, Roopa, Muralidhar Goud, Racha Ravi and Venu Yeldandi essayed supporting roles in the film. With cinematography by Acharya Venu and music by Bheems Ceciroleo, the film was edited by Madhu. The film opened to glowing reviews from critics and audiences, leaving many in awe of Venu Yeldandi’s storytelling capabilities. He has signed another film with Dil Raju and Geetha Arts as well.

Amazon Prime Video acquired the post-theatrical streaming rights of Balagam and is expected to premiere the film on OTT in the early half of April. The makers recovered nearly twice the budget of the film with the OTT/satellite deals and it has now also turned out to be a surprise hit in theatres too.
