Tollywood superstar Chiranjeevi is overjoyed as his son Ram Charan's performance in RRR garnered praise from Hollywood great James Cameron. The 67-year-old superstar took to Twitter to express his excitement while sharing the video clip of Cameron raving about director SS Rajamouli's global hit .

"Sir @JimCameron an acknowledgement of his character in #RRR from a Global Icon & Cinematic Genius like you is no less than an Oscar itself! It’s a great honor for @AlwaysRamCharan As a father I feel proud of how far he’s come. Ur compliment is a blessing for his future endeavours," Chiranjeevi tweeted.

In the video interview, the maker of the Avatar films gave a glowing review for RRR. "It's an amazing film. The first time I watched it alone, I didn't know what to expect. I was astonished. Not just with the bravura of the physical style of the film and the good use of VFX. But also storytelling. There is a classicism to the storytelling that's almost Shakespearean," he said.

Cameron also analysed Charan's Raju character. "And the journey that you go on, especially understanding the Ram character, which was very challenging, and then you finally understand what's going on in his head, and it's heartbreaking and I just think it's a triumph. And I told Mr Rajamouli this in person recently," he added.

Charan played the role of a high-ranking officer in the British police force in RRR. He first comes across as a man whose loyalty lies with the British Raj as he uses his superhuman abilities to keep the Indian-side rebellion in check. However, it's only in the second half that the film reveals the actual motivation behind Raju's actions. The characters of Charan and Jr NTR were loosely based on Telugu freedom fighters Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
