Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari is a classic hit in Telugu cinema and completes 35 years of its release on May 9, 2025. To mark this occasion, the fantasy drama is being re-released on the same date. Aswani Dutt, the original producer, is re-releasing the film through his son-in-law, director Nag Ashwin of Yevade Subramanyam and Kalki 2898 AD fame. The film has been remastered and will now be released in 3D, adding a special attraction for fans.

Special shows are planned across various locations, and several celebrities are expected to attend the premiere in Hyderabad. Ahead of the re-release, Chiranjeevi opened up about the film and fondly remembered his co-star, the late Sridevi.

"I miss Sridevi very much on this occasion. She was the major attraction of JVAS, and her character felt like a dream. This was the first time I shared screen space with Sridevi, and our chemistry was superb," said Chiranjeevi.

For years, there have been talks about a potential sequel to Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari, but nothing materialized. When asked about the sequel, the Shankar Dada MBBS star responded, "Initially, I didn’t want a sequel to be made. But now, I would love to see Nag Ashwin direct the sequel with RRR star Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. It would have a strong link to the first part and could be a dream project for the actors involved."

Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari budget and box office collections

Originally made on a budget of Rs 2 crore, the film grossed a whopping Rs 15 crore at the box office. When it was first released, both Chiranjeevi and Sridevi were at the peak of their stardom. Tickets priced at Rs 5 were sold for as high as Rs 200 in Andhra Pradesh for days, a testament to the film’s massive popularity. The film also featured the late Amrish Puri as the main villain, with music composed by Ilayaraja and direction by K. Raghavendra Rao of Pelli SandaD fame.
