Waltair Veerayya is one of the most keenly awaited films of 2023, a fan boy tribute to Chiranjeevi, written and directed by Bobby Kolli. Given the moderate responses to Acharya and Godfather, Chiranjeevi’s fans have pinned their hopes on the Sankranti 2023 release, a mass-entertainer with a huge star cast. Chiranjeevi spoke about the film in a special media interaction yesterday.

“I and Waltair Veerayya are nothing without the effort of the team. They’ve not worked on the film, they’ve invested their heart and soul into it. The main man behind the film is Bobby. His story was so engaging in all its three acts and I was confident that we could make a good film out of it. It is this trust that has convinced producers to spend lavishly on the film without any compromises,” Chiranjeevi said.

A senior actor had reportedly told Chiranjeevi that no director showcase a star on screen better on screen than a fan. “I was thrilled to know that Bobby has been my ardent fan for long and I just watched the film today. It is a wonderful film and the journey is so emotional for me. I congratulate him in advance. The film will certainly supersede expectations,” he added.

The stars in the film don’t exist just for the sake of it and they’re here for a purpose to tell a good story first, the star said. “I am always excited while working with Devi Sri Prasad; he becomes a child in my presence with his tunes and is so enthusiastic about his work. The kind of support he’s given to the film is unbelievable. Chandrabose’s lyrics left me teary eyed in a key sequence.”

Ram-Lakshman, the stunt masters, he remarks, are an inspiration for their work ethic and discipline and how they let their work speak effectively. He lauded Peter Heins’ efforts for two important sequences and AS Prakash’s production designer. Hailing Sekhar master for composing the dance sequences in a short schedule, he stated the songs reminded him of his Gang Leader days.

Cinematographer Arthur Wilson, Chiranjeevi mentioned, was a man of few words and only smiled whenever a shot was okayed and appreciated Urvashi Rautela’s energy levels for the Boss Party number. “Saptagiri, Praveen, Shakalaka Shankar and Srinivas Reddy keep me entertained with their energy. Shruti Haasan is sincere towards her job, dancing in a saree in challenging conditions.”

Later in the day on Twitter, he thanked Ravi Teja for agreeing to do the film and conveyed that he added a lot of value to the final result. Waltair Veerayya hits theatres on January 13, 2023.
