Chiranjeevi trolled over 'Grandson wish' remark at Brahma Anandam event – Here’s what happened

Brahma Anandam is an upcoming Telugu film featuring Brahmanandam and his son Raja Goutham in the lead roles. The duo portrays a grandfather-grandson relationship in the film, which recently held its pre-release event attended by Chiranjeevi. However, the event took an unexpected turn when Chiranjeevi's comments sparked controversy.

Chiranjeevi lands in a major controversy

Since the film revolves around the bond between a grandfather and grandson, a special clip featuring Chiranjeevi with his grandkids—most of whom are girls—was showcased at the event. 

When asked to comment on the video, Chiranjeevi humorously remarked that he is always surrounded by girls at home, likening himself to a hostel warden controlling them. He further added, "That is one of the reasons I want to ask Ram Charan to have a baby boy this time, to continue my legacy forward."

Chiranjeevi's comments get widespead hatred

However, these comments did not sit well with many on social media. Several netizens and senior journalists from the North called out Chiranjeevi for his remarks, branding them sexist. The statement triggered an online debate, with many criticizing the veteran actor for implying that only a male heir could carry forward his legacy.

As of now, Chiranjeevi has not responded to the backlash, but the controversy has inadvertently brought Brahma Anandam into the spotlight ahead of its release. A close associate of Chiranjeevi defends his remarks, stating that his words have been taken out of context and twisted. The source further added that Chiranjeevi adores his granddaughters and was overjoyed when Ram Charan had a baby girl.
