Actress Chitrangada Satarupa tied the knot with her childhood friend Sambit Chatterjee earlier this year in April. However, it was only a registration with only a handful of friends and relatives around. The big fat Indian wedding was slated to take place later. Now the wait is over. Chitrangada and Sambit Chattopadhyay will have a social marriage this winter. The news is shared by Chitrangada’s sister, Ritabhari.
The good news came after much drama as her wedding was cancelled in January due to the third wave of Covid. The bride, groom, and their family members suffered from the bout of Covid. Now, the duo will tie the knot this December. They will have a royal-style marriage, at a palace in Kolkata. The marriage will be held in Vedik tradition, where Nandini Bhowmik will be the priest.
Interestingly, Ritabhari’s film Brahma Janen Gopon Kommoti is inspired by the life of Nandini Bhowmik. Now the reel-life Nandini’s sister will tie the knot and the occasion will be conducted by the real-life Nandini. Nandini Bhowmik posed the question in front of society that whether the right to be a priest is only reserved for men and if girls are outcasts. Now the hymns uttered by her will contribute to the culmination of the love story of Chitrangada and Sambit.
The marriage preparation is in full swing. Ritabhari is known to be a Tollywood fashionista. So it is needless to say that everyone’s eye will be on how she dresses up for her sister’s wedding. Chitrangada, on the other hand, wants to do the marriage in Bengali style, clad in a red Benarasi saree and with a sholapith crown. She wished for a vintage theme for the wedding.
Sambit, who is a percussionist, is the son of the noted tabla player Subhen Chattopadhyay. He is also the grandson of actor Jahar Gangopadhyay. After the wedding is done, Ritabhari is supposed to prepare herself for the altar. She is currently in a relationship with psychiatrist Tathagata Chattopadhyay.
