On May 21, Mohanlal's popular movie Chotta Mumbai was scheduled to return to theatres. It is now reported that the film's re-release has been delayed. Actor Maniyanpillai Raju gave an explanation of the delay in an interview with a media outlet.

Maniyanpillai Raju, one of Chotta Mumbai's producers, disclosed that the re-release has been postponed due to Thudarum's impressive run in theatres. Additionally, he stated that the 2007 comedy action drama will return to theatres in June.

Meanwhile, a number of Malayalam films are having a theatrical release on May 23. Tovino Thomas-starrer Narivetta, Dhyan Sreenivasan's Detective Ujjwalan, Sreenath Bhasi's Azadi and Ranjith Sajeev's United Kingdom of Kerala are premiering on the same date. It is reasonable to presume that this may have contributed to the postponement of Chotta Mumbai's re-release as well. Since his most recent film, Thudarum, is doing incredibly well at the box office, Mohanlal is currently in the spotlight. It was already announced that Chotta Mumbai would be re-released on the actor's birthday this year, much to the delight of Lalettan fans.

Chotta Mumbai is accessible on OTTplay Premium and Sun NXT. Mohanlal plays Vasco, who is fondly referred to as "Thala" by his group of friends, in the Anwar Rasheed-directed film, which set in Fort Kochi. Anwar Rasheed, who is known for his directorials such as Rajamanikyam, recently produced Basil Joseph's Pravinkoodu Shappu.

His group of friends includes Siddique, Manikuttan, Bijukuttan, Indrajith Sukumaran, and Jagathy Sreekumar. Michael Ashan, Thala's father, plans his marriage to Latha. The film then revolves around the aftermath of Thala and his friends witnessing a cop's murder. In Chotta Mumbai, Bhavana portrays the lead female character. A cult classic with many humorous moments, the action thriller had a good run in theatres at the time and is still revisited by the actor's fans.
