Mohanlal's film Chotta Mumbai made a comeback to theatres today (June 6). The comedy action drama, which had a theatrical debut in 2007, is being celebrated on big screen by the actor's fans as well as film enthusiasts.
The audience has enthusiastically embraced the re-release. Despite the film's release alongside Saiju Kurup's Written & Directed by God and Asif Ali's Abhyanthara Kuttavali, Chotta Mumbai is receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews throughout the state.
While many have praised the film's character introductions, others are unable to contain their excitement about an 18-year-old comedy action entertainer. Some have also commented on how the humorous parts of this film remain fresh even after all these years.
Some have also said how happy they are to be revisiting their FDFS experiences from eighteen years ago. "Once again proved that only Mohanlal movies will work for re-releases in Kerala box office," a user commented. On social media, many people have shared the film's favourite moments, emphasising the joy it has offered to audiences.
Chotta Mumbai is accessible on OTTplay Premium and Sun NXT. Mohanlal plays Vasco, who is lovingly referred to as "Thala" by his group of eccentric friends in the Anwar Rasheed-directed movie, which is set in Fort Kochi. Anwar Rasheed is well-known for backing films like Rajamanikyam and Pravinkoodu Shappu.
Important roles in Chotta Mumbai are also played by Siddique, Manikuttan, Bijukuttan, Saikumar, Indrajith Sukumaran, Jagathy Sreekumar, and Bhavana. The actor's fans now consider the action movie, which had a good run in theatres at the time, to be a cult favourite with many amusing moments. Additionally, many people still enjoy the soundtracks in this movie.
Due to the success of his most recent film, Thudarum, at the box office, Mohanlal is currently in the spotlight. Jio Hotstar started streaming the movie on May 30. Fans of Lalettan are thrilled to learn that Udayananu Tharam, starring Lucifer, will also be re-released on June 20.
