Good things always come in pairs in SS Rajamouli’s epics! After Prabhas and Rana Daggubati in Baahubali and Ram Charan and NTR Jr in RRR, the ace filmmaker seems to have found another massive star in Chris Hemsworth to join Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu in his upcoming globe-trotting action adventure.
Rumours are rife that the filmmaker is in talks with the Thor: Love and Thunder star to rope him in for his next big budget film, which is expected to go on floors in 2023. Rajamouli had recently signed up with Creative Artists Agency, an US-based talent agency that handles high-profile celebs such as Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Brad Pitt, Will Smith and the likes.
The filmmaker had previously said that the movie will be an African jungle-based adventure in the lines of an Indiana Jones film. While the makers are yet to issue an official confirmation on Hemsworth’s casting, reports suggest that the actor will be doing an extended cameo if he agrees to come onboard. Rajamouli’s RRR also had a Hollywood actor Ray Stevenson as the main antagonist.
Rajamouli’s deal with the agency could be a sign of things to come. The Western audience have been raving about RRR since it dropped on Netflix earlier this year. The filmmaker is currently in the US promoting the movie, to increase its chances of entering the Oscar race next year.
Even though RRR was not picked as India’s official entry to the 95th Academy Awards, the film’s US distributor had said that they will be campaigning to submit the movie in the Best Picture as well as the technical categories.
Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu is currently shooting for Trivikram Srinivas’ ‘mass’ entertainer, which has Pooja Hegde as its female protagonist. The film is expected to hit theatres in 2023. His previous release Sarkaru Vaari Paata, which had Keerthy Suresh, is currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
