Chup: Revenge of the Artist director R. Balki reveals that Amitabh Bachchan has a ‘surprise’ for Dulquer Salmaan starrer

If the teaser for Chup: Revenge of the Artist is anything to go by, R Balki’s upcoming directorial promises to be an intriguing tale indeed. Amitabh Bachchan had shared the film’s trailer on his official social media on Saturday. The director teased that Big B also had another surprise in store for the upcoming film.

In conversation with ETimes, Balki revealed that Bachchan had already seen the film. The director said that Bachchan himself would tell audiences what he thought of the film on the day of its release. But the veteran actor also had done something surprising for the film as well, which Balki said that he would reveal only later on. The director said that the fact that Bachchan did that ‘surprising’ thing was proof that the latter liked the film. “He actually did something very beautiful, something which has never been done before,” teased Balki. Bachchan has starred in Balki’s films such as Cheeni Kum(2007), Paa(2009) and Shamitabh(2015).

The director also opened up about the subject matter of the film, saying he wanted to depict the sensitivity of an artist through Chup. Balki said that the film was not about Guru Dutt’s life, rather it was about the ‘artist Guru Dutt’. Calling Dutt one of the most sensitive artists of all time, Balki said he wanted people to know of Dutt’s films and when he was born.

Balki said that Chup was a ‘sensitive’ film that was in the thriller genre. He said that after people watch the film, they would be more sensitive when it comes to making opinions on anyone. Balki said that he wanted people to display sensitivity when passing an opinion on something anyone has put work into.

The upcoming film stars Dulquer Salmaan, Sunny Deol, Pooja Bhatt and Shreya Dhanwanthary.
