The September 23 release date for Chup: Revenge of the Artist, a romantic thriller written and directed by R Balki, was announced on Thursday. The upcoming movie, billed as a tribute to legendary director Guru Dutt and his 1959 masterpiece Kaagaz Ke Phool, stars Dulquer Salmaan, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Sunny Deol, and Pooja Bhatt.

Chup is a special movie for Balki for several reasons. Amitabh Bachchan, a megastar and frequent collaborator, made his film's end title track, marking his debut as a music composer.

In a statement, Balki said that Amitabh Bachchan makes his official debut as a composer with this song. As he relived the movie, the megastar saw Chup and instinctively composed an original song on his piano. It was his way of paying homage to the movie and expressing how he felt about it. The Chup End Title Track will use this composition, which Bachchan gave to the movie. The legend's sensitivity cannot be surpassed by another artist, and Chup possesses his touch.

The co-writers of the screenplay and the dialogue are Rishi Virmani, Raja Sen, a former critic who is now a writer, and Balki. The project's director of photography is listed as Vishal Sinha.

The movie has been made by Dr. Jayantilal Gada (PEN Studios), Gauri Shinde, Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, and Anil Naidu. Chup is presented by Gada (Pen Studios), with Pen Marudhar handling distribution throughout India.

Sahir Ludhianvi, Kaifi Azmi, and Swanand Kirkire wrote the lyrics, and S D Burman, Amit Trivedi, Sneha Khanwalkar, and Aman Pant are responsible for the music. The movie has Pranab Kapadia and Anirudh Sharma connected as co-producers.

To commemorate Dutt's 97th birth anniversary, a teaser for Chup was released, and it paid homage to the late director's classic Kaagaz Ke Phool. After receiving harsh reviews upon release, the 1959 movie with Dutt and Waheeda Rehman in the major roles was eventually revived as a global cinema classic.
