One of the most loved and favorite TV shows, CID, has returned with its 2nd season. It airs every Saturday and Sunday at 10 p.m. Since the first episode of CID 2, fans have been showering praise on the iconic trio Shivaji Satam, Aditya Srivastava, and Dayanand Shetty as they returned with their much-loved characters ACP Pradyuman, and Inspectors Abhijeet and Daya respectively. However, fans greatly miss the late actor Dinesh Phadnis who played the role of Inspector Freddy in CID. In a new interview, the trio opened up about him and recalled fond memories.
CID 2 cast talks about late Dinesh Phadnis
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Shivaji Satam, Daya Shetty, and Aditya Srivastava talked about Dinesh Phadnis. They said that like fans, they also miss the late actor very much. Dinesh who played the role of Inspector Freddy, was renowned for making one-liner jokes at the crime scenes to lighten up the serious situation.
Dayanand Shetty shared that he was their senior. "Satam sir has been in the show since the beginning. And sir (Freddy) was there since 92 or 93 when the pilot was shot. The character Dhanu, played by Sudhakar, has also been there since 92 or 93. And Dinesh also joined later, so he was senior to me when I joined the show.”
Shivaji Satam aka ACP Pradyuman shared that the CID cast is like a family and added, “It’s not only that. We have been part of a family. If a member of our family passed away, how would it feel?”
Meanwhile, Aditya Srivastava said that he was in good equation with everyone, and even today, they recall the moments with him when they are together in the make-up room.
On the other hand, Daya added, “And he was very funny in real life also; his one-liners were amazing. We miss him a lot.”
CID 2 cast members pay heartfelt tribute to late Dinesh Phadnis
Recently, in one of the episodes, CID 2 included a heartfelt tribute to the late actor Dinesh Phadnis who won hearts with his Inspector Freddy role in the show previously.
Reacting to the episode, one social media user wrote, "The episode was just Lit !!! Everything was just mind-blowing… The script writers.. what a climax Literally “CHEHRE PE CHEHRA” And at last Pankaj said it all… Cid Ko DID ki script chipka di."
Another commented, "You will be always remembered and will be always missed freddy sir.' A third fan penned, "Such a beautiful tribute this was. The fact that it was a bit unexpected after mentioning him at the start of the first episode made it even more special. #CID2."
Meanwhile, Dinesh Phadnis passed away on December 5, 2023, at the age of 57, due to multi-organ failure following a heart attack.
