It was in February this year when fans of ACP Pradyuman and his team rejoiced, as the cult-favourite television show CID returned for Season 2 and took the world by storm. The OG team, along with some new additions to the cast, returned in a hybrid format where the show was available both on television and the SonyLIV app. The popularity peaked when it was suddenly announced that the show was also available on Netflix, which brought in even more viewers.
However, the show is now making headlines for not-so-great reasons, as it is being said that Shivaji Satam, who plays ACP Pradyuman, is taking an exit from the show and will be replaced by a completely new character played by Parth Samthaan.
Shivaji Satam Exit Plan
Yes, you read that right. The buzz is that Shivaji Satam has already shot his final episode for CID Season 2 and will be exiting the series. According to reports, the actor even confirmed to a news portal that he is not currently shooting for the show and is away from the sets. While this doesn't confirm his exit outright, it certainly hints at it. A new report now claims that Shivaji Satam is indeed leaving the show and that Parth Samthaan will be stepping in to replace him. Read on to know everything you should about the same.
As per Hindustan Times, in an upcoming episode, Tigmanshu Dhulia—who plays Barbosa—will be planning a bomb attack on CID. While the rest of the team will be saved, ACP Pradyuman will end up losing his life in the blast. “The team recently shot the episode, which will go on air in a few days. As of now, not many details have been shared as the makers want this to be a big shocker for fans,” said a source.

Parth Samthaan Joins CID Season 2
Meanwhile, buzz has it that Parth Samthaan is all set to play a new character in CID Season 2, who will serve as a replacement for ACP Pradyuman. While there's no official confirmation yet, the rumors are gaining momentum. Parth has previously appeared in shows like Gumraah: End of Innocence and Social Currency, and on television, he played the lead in Kasautii Zindagii Kay. If he joins CID 2, this will mark his return to TV after a five-year hiatus.
CID recently made a comeback after six years. CID, which originally went off air in 2018 after a 20-year-long run, came back in 2025 with Season 2. The new season now streams on television, SonyLIV, and Netflix.
