Cinema Marte Dam Tak: Vasan Bala’s reality docu-series on 90s Pulp cinema to arrive on Amazon Prime Video on THIS date

For many Bollywood cinephiles, the 1990s were a period where cinema really seemed to have taken the industry by storm. The pulp films of the period in particular managed to have a cult following among fans, and many of them are deemed classics even today. Amazon Prime Video is all set to pay tribute to this memorable time in cinema history with their upcoming documentary series, Cinema Marte Dam Tak.

Created by Vasan Bala, the series gives viewers a close and personal behind the scenes look into the films of the era, with narratives from veteran directors J Neelam, Vinod Talwar, Dilip Gulati and Kishan Shah. Cinephiles are in for yet another treat, as the four directors will attempt to helm a film that runs along the same themes, and budgets, as they did over three decades ago.

The makers recently unveiled the trailer for the upcoming series, which will take viewers on a nostalgic journey across the action, thrills, romance and horror that pervaded the pulp films of the time.

In addition to the four directors, the series will also have appearances by stars such as Raza Murad, Mukesh Rishi, Harish Patel, Rakhi Sawant and Arjun Kapoor, among others.The series was produced under the banner of Vice Studios.

The series was created by Vasan Bala. In a statement, Vasan spoke of how special the project was to him. “I have known of artists and creators from this pulp movies industry, and was always fascinated by the films they made and their world. So, I am glad the docu-series opened up this huge opportunity for me to deep-dive into this world and understand their spirit and psyche”, he said.

Cinema Marte Dam Tak will premiere on Amazon Prime Video on January 20, 2023.
