Cirkus is expected to make an advance of about Rs. 4.50 crore nett, although this is mostly due to the holiday weekend sales, as Friday has very little business. Box Office India says that advance booking for Cirkus started on Saturday and hasn't been able to pick up any steam since then. With one day left, the day one results are up against movies like Raksha Bandhan and Bhediya.

The unsettling thing is that the advance is far lower than Avatar: The Way of Water's Friday box office take, which was just Rs. 8 crore net on Wednesday. It is therefore likely that Friday's take will be lower, or at best, Rs. 8 crore net once again. So, it's clear that the movie's current bookings need to do better. If they don't do as well as Avatar: The Way of Water in Hindi circuits, the year will end badly. Even if it performs worse than Avatar: The Way of Water across all of India, the Hindi circuits must perform better.

It's not a big issue that Rohit Shetty's films are making less progress here because audiences in the North normally respond less favourably to his work. But Maharashtra and Gujarat are the real surprises, as record numbers of people go to see his movies there. Despite the fact that Ranveer Singh is more well-known in these states than the rest of the country, Maharashtra and Gujarat have yet to make significant progress. For the movie to have any chance of being successful, these components must succeed.

The movie will do better on opening day, or perhaps a better way to put it is that it must perform better on opening day because if it doesn't, the shockwaves this movie will produce in the business will outweigh all others. A sad, awful finish to a poor year and Current Laga Re to the entire film business.
