Since it released in theatres, Rohit Shetty's film Cirkus starring Ranveer Singh has had trouble making money. The movie ran for a full week in theatres and made less than Rs 30 crore at the Indian box office. It is shocking to see the movie fail to get traction as it is one of Ranveer Singh's lowest grossing productions. Cirkus will most likely be pulled out from theatres in the upcoming days.
Cirkus, starring Ranveer Singh, Pooja Hegde, and Jacqueline Fernandez, hit theatres on December 23. The Bajirao Mastani actor was seen in a double role in the movie. This is the first time we saw Ranveer Singh playing a double role on the big screens.
According to trade reports, Cirkus made between Rs 1.70 crore and Rs 2 crore on its seventh day at the box office in India. This brings the overall revenue to Rs. 27 crore (approx). It appears difficult for the movie to earn more than Rs 30 crore at the box office. Cirkus is on the edge of failure if things continue this way.
Rohit Shetty is the producer and director of the historical comedy Cirkus. Ranveer Singh plays two roles in the film. The supporting cast includes Jacqueline Fernandez, Pooja Hegde, Johnny Lever, Mukesh Tiwari, Siddhartha Jadhav, Sanjay Mishra, Murli Sharma, Sulbha Arya, and Vrajesh Hirjee. Deepika Padukone make a notable cameo in the movie. However, despite being such a remarkable cast in the film, the movie could neither garner positive reviews nor much appretiation from the audience.
Cirkus is based on the Hindi movie Angoor from 1982, which was a remake of Do Dooni Chaar from 1968. The latter was a remake of the Bengali movie Bhranti Bilas from 1963.
