Political dramas are in themselves a popular genre, but when combined with the flavour of family feud, the result has to be classic. While season one focused on the standoff between brother and sister for power, the second season hints that the emphasis will now shift to father Ameya Rao Gaikwad and daughter Poornima Gaikwad, as the two characters are not ready to budge, and will stoop to any level to win the election.

With Poornima deciding to carry on her struggle against the patriarchal system of politics to gain control over the state, she will be forced to lock horns with her father, who is hell-bent on destroying her to avenge his son’s death.

A stellar cast is heading the project, with Atul Kulkarni returning as Ameya and Priya Bapat as Poornima. Actors Eijaz Khan, Sachin Pilgaonkar and Sushant Singh will also be seen essaying pivotal roles. Produced by Applause Entertainment in association with Kukunoor Movies, the City of Dreams is scheduled to stream its second season on Disney+ Hotstar from July 30.
